  • Adding a Trailer Brake Controller to a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • In order for a trailer brake controller to work you will need to have a 7-Way connector on the vehicle and trailer. It sounds like the Van already has a 4-Way so you will just need a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This will provide the wiring and another parts needed to install a 7-Way and wire in the brake controller. I have included links that explain the installation. For the trailer side you can use # H20046. I have included links to a couple of videos that will explain the...

  • In addition to the brake controller, you will need two other wiring harnesses to complete installation on your 2010 Grand Caravan. First is the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. Second is the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118446. Also, you should look at our brake wiring from scratch FAQ linked below. It is a step by step installation process that includes a section with the ETBC7 kit.

  • Remove Jounce Bumpers to Install Air Helper Springs on 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • The yellow rubber inside the coil spring on your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan is a jounce bumper. The jounce bumper is removed to install both the Air Lift # AL60814 and the Firestone # F4169 air helper springs. To remove the jounce bumper, you will pull the bumper out at an angle. You can remove the jounce bumper before or after you drill the grommet for your air line. I have attached the installation video of Air Lift Vehicle Suspension # AL60814 on a 2010 Grand Caravan for you.

  • Can the Curt Friction Sway Control part # 17200 be Installed on the Left Side of a Trailer
  • You can install the Curt Friction sway control part # 17200 on the left side of the trailer. All you need to do is loosen the handle of the # 17200, remove the inner piece, rotate it 180 degrees and then reinsert and it would be setup to be used on the the left side of the trailer. Typically the best way to combat sway is proper trailer loading. If you can move as much of the weight in pop up to the front of the trailer you would be better off.

  • Installation of Curt Class III Trailer Hitch on 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • There is possibly trimming required to install the Curt trailer hitch # 13364 on your 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan. If it is it's fairly minimal. Take a look at the diagram I've attached. Your husband is going to need to test fit the hitch on the van to see if the receiver tube clears the bumper fascia. If it does then no trimming is necessary. If the tube doesn't clear the bumper then he'll need to do some trimming. I've linked a video from when we installed the hitch, as well as the install...

  • Adjusting the Power Level on a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller
  • I have included a link to the manual for the Tekonsha Voyager brake controller for you, # 39510. On the right hand side is the power knob and on the left side is the level knob. The power knob adjusts how much voltage goes back to the trailer brakes. Rolling it forward towards the front of the truck increases the power. the level knob will need to be pointing straight up and down (with the truck on level ground). Since you bought the truck with the controller already installed just check...

  • Installing Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler D13502 on a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • Yes, I would be happy to give you an explanation on the installation procedures for installing a transmission cooler. Installing a transmission cooler on your 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, like the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13502, is not as difficult as it perhaps sounds. There are three possible mounting points for the cooler, and it plugs in line with the hoses already on the vehicle. If you have enough space, the most efficient mounting location is between the vehicles grille and the...

  • Wiring to Passenger Side Too Short on Curt Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • This issue is not uncommon and it is not just Curt that has this issue. The trick is to use the most direct path possible when routing the wiring from the driver side to the passenger side. But they do not explain what that best route is. What a lot of people end up doing is splicing in some extra wire because finding the best route that does not require extra wire is too time consuming. When we installed Curt harness # C56331 on a 2014 Town and Country we had just enough wire to reach...

  • Mounting a Womens Bike to the Thule Passage 2 Trunk Mount Bike Rack on a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • To attach a bike that does not have a top frame bar that goes straight across you would need to use an adapter like # TH982XT. When clamped around the seat post and handle bar gooseneck, this bar provides an artificial top frame tube and will allow you to carry the womens bike on the Thule Passage bike rack # TH910XT. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.

  • Replacing a Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller in 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • If you have had a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885, previously installed in your 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and the wiring to install it under the dash is still present then you will be able to simply plug in the new controller with that same harness. In your van the install would have been a hard-wire type that would have used an install kit like our # ETBC7. In any case the P2 includes a pigtail wiring harness if you do need one. I suggest you carefully inspect your trailer wiring...

  • Where to Place Jacks When Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan and on page 305 it states that the rear jack location is located between a pair of down-facing tabs that are on the sill flange of the vehicle side of the body. I recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. Since the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75579 installs behind your rear tires this jack location will not interfere with the installation process. You may...

  • Recommendedation for a Trailer WIring Harness for a 2009 Dodge Caravan
  • I do not have any specific wire color information on that particular vehicle. To locate which wire carries the signal for the tail/running lights, remove the taillight assembly as if you were replacing a burned out bulb. Have a helper turn on the headlights, then probe the wires running to the assembly with a circuit tester such as our part # 40376, until you find the wire that shows current. For this vehicle, we offer a T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118552. To install this converter,...

  • Transmission Cooler Line Routing On 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • To find out which line is to be routed through a transmission cooler on your 2008 Dodge Caravan you can just do the following. Start with the engine cold. Start up the engine. Put the transmission shifter in drive for no longer than 10 seconds. Stop the engine, place the vehicle in park, and remove the keys. You can feel both lines for temperature. The coolest line is the return line. I have attached a couple of helpful articles you can check out. Since there is no inlet or outlet port...

  • Hardware Torque Requirements for Curt Class II Hitch 13364 on 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • The Curt hitch # 13364 that you referenced is a confirmed fit on your 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan and it appears on the linked page that displays all hitches made for your GC. These available hitches include two sizes, both the Class II 1-1/4-inch type like # 13364 and the Class III 2-inch like # e98854. Currently (December 2018) for their hitch # 13364 Curt specifies 48-ft-lbs of torque for the 10mm fasteners and 86-ft-lbs for the 12mm fasteners. This could potentially change if they ever...

  • How Does Curt Trailer Hitch 13364 Install on a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan and is Trimming Required
  • Curt trailer hitch # 13364 has 2 bolt holes on the passenger side of the vehicle because the forward most bolt on the vehicle is there holding on the vehicle bumper and Curt decided this location was not necessary to safely secure the hitch to the vehicle. It looks like all of the hitches use just 2 fasteners on the passengers side. Trimming might be required on the Town and Country vans according to the instructions, linked for reference, but the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan is not mentioned....

  • Using Inline Fuse or # 9506P 20 Amp Breaker To Install Brake Controller On 2014 Grand Caravan
  • You can indeed use an inline fuse holder, but the # 16167-1 fuse holder you mention is meant for 14-16 gauge. If you can find an inline fuse holder that uses 10 gauge wire, that would be fine. The # 9506P circuit breaker does not need to be fastened to the sheet metal using screws, as no ground is needed. You could use zip ties or even double sided tape, if needed. I've linked you to install details as well as an install video showing a brake controller being installed on a Grand Caravan...
